Last year, the Lighthouse Sportsman’s Luncheon raised £58,000 for the charity, which is why we’re over the moon to be sponsoring the event for the second year in a row.
And we’re hoping this year’s event will raise even more money for this amazing charity.
About Lighthouse Club
The Lighthouse Construction Industry Charity has been supporting the construction industry since 1956. It’s the only charity in the UK that provides emotional, physical and financial well-being support to construction workers and their families.
Their support covers a whole range of things – from supporting construction workers who have suffered physical trauma, have a terminal illness, or are unable to support themselves financially, to looking after families who have lost a loved one in the industry.
Their ‘Help Inside the Hard Hat’ campaign has been launched specifically to raise awareness of poor mental health within the construction industry. Two construction workers take their own lives every working day in the UK, and stress, anxiety, and depression account for a fifth of all work-related illnesses.
Help Inside the Hard Hat aims to raise awareness, remove the stigma around mental health, and get construction workers talking more. Their resources include a 24/7 helpline, a free app, and mental health training.

What the Lighthouse Club means to us
HardHats is dedicated to supporting the construction industry, so it makes sense for us to support this amazing charity. But our reasons for working with the Lighthouse Club run much deeper.
When HardHats directors, Ashley and Dan, were in their early twenties, they lost a close friend to suicide. Billy was your typical “Jack-the-Lad” who never gave away how he was feeling, then one day, he tragically ended his life.
Ashley and Dan are committed to helping the Lighthouse Club shine a light on mental illness in the construction industry to encourage people like Billy to speak out and get the help they need.
About the event
The sporting luncheon will take place at Southampton FC’s football ground, St. Mary’s, on Friday, 4th November.
We’re delighted to be the main sponsor as well as donating (in our opinion) some awesome auction items and raffle prizes.
For the auction, we’re gifting “All the 4’s at Goodwood”- a 4-ball on the members-only golf course, The Downs. Plus, four tickets to the Festival of Speed and four tickets to a horse racing meet.
For the raffle, we’ll be giving away a year’s free subscription to HardHats. That’s a whole year’s peace of mind that you can continue working with subbies long-term without upsetting HMRC.
