Golf. But make it HardHats – Compliance Doesn’t Have to Be Boring

by | Oct 25, 2025

What happens when compliance meets chaos?

At HardHats, we’ve never been big fans of doing things the “usual way” – whether that’s how contractors manage subbies or how we show up at events.

So when we were invited to sponsor the 18th hole at the TSM Group Charity Golf Day at the prestigious London Golf Club, we decided to make it something no one would forget.

Golf. But not how you know it.

Because we’re not the “stick a logo on a banner and clap politely” type.

We don’t really do corporate golf.

We turned it into The Party Hole.

DJ spinning tunes.
Tequila shots flowing.
Energy through the roof.

Think LIV Golf vibes – if you don’t follow golf, that’s the tour that flipped the old “quiet please” tradition on its head with music, noise and a full-on festival atmosphere.

You heard us before you saw us.
You felt it before you teed off.
And you remembered it long after you walked off.

That was the point.

In golf or construction, blending in gets you forgotten.

If you disrupt – you get remembered.

And that’s kind of our thing.

At HardHats, we’ve never been about doing things the way everyone else does.

Payroll companies? They take money from subbies and call it protection.
Contracts off the shelf? They look good in a drawer but collapse the minute HMRC starts sniffing around.

We build systems that are clear, compliant and actually work in the real world.

Different.
Memorable.
Built to last.

That’s why the firms we work with stick with us.

Disruption that does good.

The best part of the Golf Day?

All that noise also raised funds for The Chris Aked Foundation – an incredible charity supporting families through cancer and bereavement.

So yeah… we’ll keep doing things differently.

On the course.
In business.
And definitely when it comes to shaking up how contractors use subbies long-term.

Final thought.

If compliance feels boring, overcomplicated or stuck in the old ways… it’s probably because it’s been designed that way.

We think it’s time for something better.

When you build a system that works, it shouldn’t just keep HMRC happy – it should make your life easier too.

If you want that kind of setup, get in touch and we’ll help you build it properly.

Ten years of TSM. A round of golf. A cause worth backing.
Not a bad day’s work.

You might not even need our help!

But if you use labour-only subcontractors long-term and want to continue doing so, let’s have a chat. If you are at risk, we’ll take that risk off your hands.
